Hello! I'm Agatha Murray (pronouns: she, her) and I'm a clinical/counselling psychologist, registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists since 2002. I have a Master's degree in counselling psychology from the U of C and a PhD in counselling psychology from the U of A. In addition to my private practice which I founded in 2016, I have worked in a university counselling centre and several departments within Alberta Health Services.

I have extensive training and experience in helping people with a variety of mental health concerns and personal difficulties. I use a person-centred approach and evidence-based treatments, such as CBT, EMDR, and ART. Evidence-based practice provides confidence that the therapeutic approach is based on research, rather than fads or untested ideas.

In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with my family, forcing our teenage children to spend quality time together (mainly while chauffering them around), petting our cats, low-key working out, eating delicious food, and trying out new skincare products.

Psychotherapy research has shown that a good connection or "fit" with the therapist is critically important. To this end, I approach all clients with openness, integrity, respect, and compassion, and I strive for a collaborative style of therapy. I also collect client feedback on a regular basis and use this feedback to help guide my practice.

I'm excited to meet with people to help them manage problems and overcome challenges. New clients are offered a free 15-minute initial phone consultation to learn more about how I work, see if we would be a good fit, and ask any questions.

You can also contact me here with any questions. I'm looking forward to connecting!
